What is WDS Open Show 2025?
WDS Open Show 2025 for Golden Retrievers is an unofficial dog show. The events in the ring generally follows to the course of an official dog show. Open Show is a non-CAC show.
Dogs that cannot be judged at official shows have the right to participate in the Open Show, e.g. due to testicular abnormalities. Such defects of the dog do not affect the prizing place in the Open Show.
The classes of the Open Show are determined accordingly:
- Minor Puppy Class (5 months - under 7 months)
- Puppy Class (7 months - under 9 months)
- Junior Class (9 months - under 15 months)
- Intermediate Class (15 months - under 24 months)
- Open Class (2 yrs - under 8 yrs)
- Working Class (official Working Certificate required)
- Champion Class (International and national champions CH, not JCH or VCH).
- Veteran Class (8 yrs onwards)
- Breeder's Class* (a group of four dogs of the same breed. The dogs must be bred by the same breeder or registered under the same FCI-confirmed kennel name.)
- Progeny Class* (four male or female offsprings of the dog or bitch)
*In the Open Show, the Breeder's Class and Progeny Class can also consist of puppies or the puppy can be part of the group.
Events in the ring
The judge will rank the five (5) best dogs/bitches in each class. In the unofficial show, however, neither certificate quality (CQ) nor certificate (CAC) are awarded, but the judge rewards the dogs/bitches that make it to further competitions with an honorary prize (HP).
Puppies receive a written review and are ranked. The judge can, if he/she wishes, award an honorary prize (HP) to the puppies he/she deems worthy.
